Just after the turn of the century, in 1911, Sabatino Balestra and his wife Giuseppina began their first “Emporium” in Umbria-Italy. Catering to the needs of the local population, The Balestra Family began distributing Bakery products, Olive Oil, Vinegars, and personal hygiene supplies. Their goal was to deliver their customers the fresh products picked up from their fields just prior to arrival to their store. Their Emporium was a success, which was replied for over ninety years.

With overwhelming certainty that their products were nothing less than extraordinary, they continued in their efforts to create a company that they could share the value and exquisiteness of their products with the rest of the world. Their vision and philosophy has always been to provide the freshest products, while preserving their lands.  These same philosophies have been passed on to three generations, and today are embodiment of what Sabatino&Co means not only to us, but to you, our consumer.

As time went on, the generations felt the need to use the same attentive curiosity in selecting other Mediterranean products for distribution. Their end goal was to distribute, along with their original products, a complete “Mediterranean experience” accessible to all.

About the Children's Glaucoma Foundation
The Children's Glaucoma Foundation (http://www.childrensglaucoma.com ) is a nonprofit tax-exempt organization dedicated to supporting programs for children with glaucoma.

The Children's Glaucoma Foundation was formed by a group of physicians, parents of children with glaucoma, and concerned citizens. Childhood glaucoma is a rare disease occurring in 1 in 10,000 children. Yet, this disease is a leading cause of blindness in infants and children.

Many parents are unaware children can have glaucoma. Pediatricians and primary doctors infrequently see children with glaucoma. Because of this, a child's glaucoma may go unrecognized before the child experiences vision loss.

The Children's Glaucoma Foundation was founded to support programs for children with glaucoma. We are trying to increase awareness of the symptoms and encourage parents and physicians to screen infants and children. Early diagnosis and treatment is essential to prevent vision loss.

David S. Walton, M.D., president of the Children's Glaucoma Foundation, is a clinical professor of Ophthalmology, Harvard Medical School, and surgeon in Ophthalmology at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. He is recognized for his care of children with glaucoma.

Support Opportunities
The foundation welcomes volunteer help. For example, we have flyers, which are strictly educational, that could be distributed to pediatricians and nursery schools. There are many other volunteer opportunities. If you are interested in volunteering, or in providing financial support for our programs please contact us by email at [email protected]
